Katie & Austin's Newest Artwork

If you have known our kids for any amount of time, you know that they both love art and have a talent for it!  They certainly did NOT get that from me!!  {If you don't believe me, ask me to show you my greatest artwork, and you'll get a stick-figure person or a basic daisy/tree/sun picture...seriously.}

The kids have been blessed to have a fantastic art teacher (Ms. Michele at Hartselle Art Studio & Gallery -- www.hartselleartstudio.com that they've been taking classes with since they were preschoolers).  And now that they are students at CCS, they get additional art lessons weekly at school with Ms. Ashley.  Needless to say, they have learned and grown so much with their art over the years, and I love seeing their newest works of art!

Over the last several weeks, they have been working diligently on their Alabama wildlife paintings.  This week, they finished them, and I just had to show you all!!  You'll have to overlook the cell-phone quality, but that's all I had with me at the time.  These are currently hanging on display with many other awesome students' work in HASG.

Austin's Bald Eagle (acrylic paint):

I know I'm a bit partial, since I'm their mom and #1 cheerleader, but seriously?!  How is it that my 7 & 9 year old can paint like this?!  They definitely have surpassed my knowledge, talent (or lack thereof), and ability of art... {grin}  I was impressed...and totally looking forward to see their next works of art :-)

On a side note, if you have kids looking for art classes, you should totally check out HASG!  (No, I wasn't asked to say that!)  But Ms. Michele has become family to us over our years of art classes -- she has a passion and talent for art & teaching...she's honestly the sweetest, most patient person I know!  I could write an entire post on her alone, but in fear that she may read this and kill me later, I'll stop.  But seriously...check it out!  Summer Camps should be starting up next month, and weekly classes should resume when school begins in August.
