Secure Daughters, Confident Sons ~ Book Review

For the last several weeks, I have been reading Secure Daughters, Confident Sons, by Glenn T. Stanton.  I was given this book to review through Blogging for Books.

I was very excited to receive this book to read!  My 2 year old son, loves to follow his older (4 year old) sister around and do everything she does.  And, while I know that there is no problem with that at this age, I wanted to hear more perspectives on just how much was "normal" versus when something needed to change.  The back cover of this book names several things that you will "discover" in the book, and the first one was "what gender-appropriate behavior looks like at various ages -- and why you shouldn't panic if your toddler boy plays with his sister's dolls."  That alone was enough to convince me to read the book!

This book is not a thick book at all, but it was not an "easy read", either.  I had to take my time, reading only a chapter or so at a time, in order to soak in the information and apply it to our family.  We do live in a very gender-confused world in today's time, and I am so thankful for books like this that help parents to see what we can do to help our children be secure and confident, the way God made them to be, whether boy or girl.

I would highly recommend this book to any parent, whether you have one child or ten, all girls, or a mixture of both girls and boys.  I think everyone could easily come away understanding more and be challenged to do more to help our children become confident sons and secure daughters.

I received this book free from Blogging for Books as part of their book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
