I Lift Up My Soul - Book Review

I was recently given the opportunity to read and review Charles Stanley's devotional book, "I Lift Up My Soul", through Booksneeze.  The devotional is set up by date, to read over one year's time.  Each devotion typically has a suggested scripture reading, a short key verse, a few paragraphs of application and challenge, and a prayer at the end specific to each day's devotion. 

I feel that this would be a great devotional book for someone who would like an easy read devotional before work, school, or even as a family devotional.  The devotionals are short, but are not lacking in the spiritual department.  These devotionals are not the fluffy, feel-good devotionals.  They teach and explain God's word (small amounts at a time), and apply them in a way leaving you ready to put the words to action in your own life. 

I love the "suggested scripture reading" for each day, as well.  We are not commanded to read devotional books, but God's word.  But sometimes, it's hard to know where to start or what to read.  This devotional gives you a nice Bible reading plan for each day, to correspond with the day's devotional. I gave this book 4 stars and would recommend it for anyone looking for a great devotional to add to their daily reading.
